As part of the first wave of electronic musicians to emerge from post-war Sri Lanka, Asvajit has spent nearly a decade taking charge of dance-floors across the island and obsessively refining his craft, with releases on record labels world-wide including Frucht, Deep Tech Records, PIMR as well as a collaborative 12” vinyl with Soulphiction on Stuttgart based imprint, Phil_E. Asvajit has also performed in London and Berlin at clubs such as KOKO, Kater Holzig, Sisyphos, Suicide Circus and the notorious Golden Gate, as well as at music festivals including the 2013 edition of Fusion Festival and the experimental world culture mashup, Worldtronics Festival at the iconic Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin. Apart from his work as an electronic musician, Asvajit is also an audio/visual artist and graphic designer as well as the founder of Jambutek Recordings; an independent electronic music imprint and artist collective also based in Colombo. Since 2012 he has curated and co-organized Pettah Interchange, an annual celebration of arts and alternative culture that takes place in abandoned urban spaces. Asvajit lives and works on the outskirts of Colombo with his cat, Kenji.
